#12 • Case 580C Backhoe – 4-Cyl Diesel
Part of South Auto Parts & Marine Supply Business Liquidation Auction (timed auction by Grindstaff's Auction Marketing Group LLC)
High bid $2,150.00
Status: Sold
Case 580C Backhoe with 4 cyl diesel engine. Late 70’s/Early 80’s. 2-wheel drive. Not tested. Sign leaning on backhoe not included. The "Bottom Line": This is an original Case 580C "Construction King." It has been parked outdoors for approximately 15 years. While it is currently non-running, it was parked in operational condition. This unit is being sold as-is and is a prime candidate for a mechanical restoration or as a high-value donor for a working fleet. Mechanical & Component Highlights: Engine: Includes the original Case 207 CID 4-cylinder diesel engine. It still features the high-value Roosa Master Fuel Injection Pump, starter, and alternator. Structural Integrity: Main loader arms, backhoe boom, and stabilizer legs are original and appear intact. No visible structural cracks or major "patch-job" welds on primary castings. Hydraulic Value: All hydraulic cylinders—including the hard-to-find swing and boom cylinders—appear to be present with rods attached. Even as "cores," these are worth significant money in the vintage parts market. Buckets Included: Comes with the original front loader bucket and rear backhoe bucket. Both are solid steel with years of life left. ROPS Canopy: Features the complete rollover protection structure (canopy), a sought-after safety upgrade for older 580 models. Condition Notes for Buyers: Status: Operational condition unknown. Parked running; engine not currently tested. Wear: Typical surface rust and weathering from 15 years of outdoor storage. Hydraulic hoses and seat show signs of dry rot. Transport: Non-running. Buyer must be equipped with a winch or heavy-duty trailer for removal. (Approximate weight: 13,000–14,500 lbs). Why Bid? A running Case 580C can command $8,000–$12,000+. If you are a mechanic, this is the ultimate "low-entry" project. If you are a parts scavenger, the combined value of the injection pump, cylinders, buckets, and counterweights far exceeds the current scrap price. Asset has been stored for approximately 15 years. Operational condition unknown. Selling as-is. Seller advised all vehicles were running when parked.
